Iron Man's Marvel Comics premiere in Stories of Suspense #39 (cover dated March 1963) was a cooperation among editor and story-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, story-artist Don Heck, and cover-artist and character-designer Jack port Kirby. Lee said that "of all comic books we shared at Marvel, we received more fan email for Iron Man from women, from females, than another name....We didn't get much supporter mail from women, but whenever we did, the letter was tackled to Flat iron Man.Lee and Kirby included Iron Man inside the Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963) as a founding person in the superhero team. The type has made an appearance in every subsequent level of the series since. .
