Iron Man's Marvel Comics premiere in Stories of Suspense #39 (cover dated March 1963) was a collaboration among editor and story-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, story-artist Don Heck, and cover-artist and character-designer Jack Kirby. In 1963, Lee had been toying with the essential notion of a businessman superhero. While Lee intended to write the story himself, a deadline disaster forced him at hand on the premiere concern to Lieber eventually, who fleshed out the complete storyline.[8] The art was split between Kirby and Heck.
