Iron Man's Marvel Comics premiere in Tales of Suspense #39 (cover dated March 1963) was a collaboration among editor and story-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, story-artist Don Heck, and character-designer and cover-artist Jack port Kirby. In 1963, Lee have been toying with the basic idea of a entrepreneur superhero. He set out to make the new character a wealthy, gorgeous females' man, but one with a key that would plague and torment him as well.
